WILL SELENA GOMEZ APPEAR ON 'BROOKLYN NINE-NINE'? SINGER SHARES INTEREST IN POTENTIAL CAMEO

ultihyphenate Selena Gomez said she isn't opposed to taking a break from her singing career to return to television for a guest appearance on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Despite critical acclaim, Brooklyn Nine-Nine was initially canceled by Fox in May amid a low Nielsen rating, with  Season 5 averaging at 2.7 million viewers, Entertainment Weekly reported. After heavy demand from fans via social media, the cop comedy series was renewed by NBC for 13 episodes one day after it's Fox cancelation. The show stars Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg, who is Gomez's on-screen character's love interest in the Hotel Transylvania franchise.

In an interview with Extra Friday, host Renee Bargh spoke with Gomez and Samberg about Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. Bargh took a moment to congratulate Samberberg on Brooklyn Nine-Nine's renewal, to which the co-stars responded by high-fiving each other. The "Back To You" songstress, 25, said she wouldn't be opposed to "potentially" coming on the cult show and she claimed to have "offered" appear.

"She offered," Samberg, 39, said. "We're gonna ask." Gomez then suggested that the opportunity would "be fun."

Gomez's career started in the world of television acting, having appeared on Barney & Friends as a child with fellow Disney alum Demi Lovato. She more notably starred as Alex Russo on Disney Channel's Emmy award-winning series Wizards of Waverly Place. She last popped up on television with a guest role on Inside Amy Schumer in 2016.

While Gomez is set to star in Hotel Transylvania 3 July 13 and the Woody Allen-directed film A Rainy Day in New York later this year, she's been working toward completing her forthcoming third studio album. There isn't much information regarding her new record, but it would be her first album in three years since Revival in 2015.

"There's no date, there's no idea for it, but I have a lot of music that I've collectively put away," Gomez told Billboard in May. "I have so many exciting things coming. It just feels like it's my time and it's at my pace. I'm not trying to throw a bunch of music in people's faces until I'm ready."
